Which is why I suggested to her to move on he's either not relationship ready or doesn't want to be bothered with her specifically. She's already initiated contact several times. If he doesn't want to talk, is “too busy” etc she needs to stop wasting her time.
She said she doesn't want to contact him again because she doesn't want to seem pushy. Which I completely understand he's given her virtually nothing to go on. yeah that's the thing that stood out to me the most. he broke up with his ex after 7 years, 2 months later started dating OP, and 2 months later started living together. so it only took him 4 months to get in another serious relationship? yeah OP is definitely a rebound so he can forget his ex. even if he wasn't still talking to her.

This sounds like your mother feels like she does not know him well enough and that she would profit by a serious conversation with him. If you don't see a future where the three of you have a healthy relationship, ignore her comments. She is trying to give you her love and support in a way that she understands.
