I've been in both of your position, the only way you're going to solve this is by sitting down and having a mildly uncomfortable conversation like adults.
If you open up about your last relationship, why it failed, the way this behaviour impacted it, how it made you feel, etc… if she cares about you she will understand. If she cares about you, and sees a future with you, she should not want you to go into debt for material things.
