When you're in a healthy relationship, you attack the problem together, not each other. Unfortunately, you have quite a few years to go before most men become emotionally mature. I'm not saying there's no hope but his comment is a tough thing to come back from. You really have to assess if this is a red flag for you and whether it's worth pursuing the relationship.
