   I went through court with my partner to alter the custody of their child due to this type of stuff from their ex.

   The child was exceptionally hurt by the other parent.. leading to run away issues, self harm, and eventually, the child tried to jump off a cliff at 8 years old.

   We knew it would be tough – and legal battle destroyed our finances and marriage – but that child is now a well-adjusted near adult.

   On balance – it was worth it. The relief I feel seeing how ok kiddo has turned out eclipses the rest.

5. She should go to AA but only if she admits she has a problem and goes of her own free will. You can try Alanon.

   Go to couples therapy if you want to salvage the relationship. 6 years is pretty long. Might be worth trying a few sessions to see how it feels. It doesn’t always work though.
