But like f’rinstance, I went through a period when I was a little kid of wanting both orange juice and milk together on my cereal. As for the “not wanting to lose the friendship thing” I understand where your coming from, but personally think it’s bs. What it COULD become outweighs any downside or risk, because if things do blow up and it costs you a friendship then it wasn’t a very strong friendship to begin with. I’m afraid it’s both religion and ethnicity. She’s Christian and I’m jewish. The bigger issue may be they all immigrated to the US from Pakistan and the culture is quite different there for women. So it may be less me and more they expect her to do what they want. I haven’t had the honor to even meet her parents yet, and I’m sure they don’t really know I exist (this was a separate argument we had, but I wasn’t ready to push as this is still new and meeting the family would be a bit much).
If conversion is the only way they’d accept me, that would be the end. Both of us agreed that we don’t want the other to convert. Neither of us want the other to change something important to them (our religions) that may cause a change in who they are.
