Massive respect to you for doing the very important work you're doing… but let's not normalise this level of workload.
I can't even imagine doing a 12 hour shift, let alone a 24-36 hour shift. Hell, I struggle to stay awake for much more than 14-16 hours in one stretch, let alone actually working flat out during that time.
I know healthcare professionals are massively overworked, but if they're working 24+ hour shifts, they must surely be so tired, and that can't be good for patient outcomes.
“but he doesn't work more than 12 hrs a day”
No-one should be working more than 12 hours a day. The world is broken.
Talk to an attorney. Maybe you can file a police report against your husband and his co worker, since you advised the co worker the property was stolen, and coworker still refused to return your stolen property. See if there are legal options for you.
If that doesn't work you can always try to sue in civil court.
As someone who has OCD, that isn't how it works at all. You can't just switch it off. That's why it sucks. With medication and therapy you can get it under control but you don't just snap from deep compulsions to nothing because someone else threatens to leave. When you're in that deep, you need help breaking out.
IDK if he was lying then or now but something is up.
Can he talk to a career counselor or something?

Fuck that! There is no going back from this.
