That or the wife is just going to therapy to complain about her husband and taking a liberal interpretation of whatever the therapist says to suit her projections. This sounds more likely to me. Couples counseling should open the space for both to address grievances and set boundaries on her personal therapy about him.

Dude I was 17 and a kid! I had no idea wtf any of it was. This was in 1999. I learned very quickly 24 years ago before you were probably even born, that pro life was a sham. I just have some questions, most of which are all for you to consider, not for us.
Why is all the pressure on him?
Have you actually asked your partner why the goal posts keep moving, or why he seems hesitant, or have you just continually applied pressure to him to do what you could easily do yourself?
What concerns or hurdles does he have that are holding him back?
Is this the only conflict you've ever had in your relationship? (If so, that's not actually a good sign, it's a sign you're both taking an avoidant attachment style, and this is generally not healthy)
If not, did you take this same kind of pushy approach in other conflicts?
Why is marriage so important to you in the first place?
