Just do it now. I have 2 kittens, and I'm annoyed as fuck that they won't leave the Christmas tree alone. It's coming down on Monday when I normally take it down in January. But this is normal, expected behavior and therefore I don't take it out on them.

His level of cleanliness and hygiene seems incompatible with your standards (and your standards seem more than reasonable to me). The fact that he says you’re being dramatic and that you sound like an annoying mother, but he can’t seem to see how he is positing himself like a clueless child who needs to be picked up after is frustrating.
Honestly, this guy sounds like a lost cause if he’s really unable to recognize the level of filth he’s living in, but have you tried talking to him about cleanliness outside of asking him to complete tasks? For instance, have y’all ever just had a conversation about what your individual standards for cleanliness are? He may be having issues framing his behavior as unacceptable and that sort of conversation could highlight that you are not comfortable with that sort of disarray in your home. If he understands your standards and then refuses to meet them or otherwise compromise, then I’d recommend walking away.
This is a totally fair breaking point and it’s not your job to educate him on basic maintenance.

The words you are looking for are intellectual curiosity. Watching the dark knight and LOTR doesn’t make you smart or intellectually curious. It’s entertainment. Intellectual curiosity comes in many, many different forms as well. Not just reading or watching tv.
She obviously has different interests than you, which you’ve never seemed to ask her about (ironic considering your complaints about her lack of interest in yours)

I wouldn't describe our relationship as struggling, I'd say it's equivalent to most people's who've been married for the length of time we have. Only that archaic taboos aside, an extra marital sex arrangement could spice up my life in a way that would improve my marriage to someone who has no desire for sex where for myself it is an extremely important part of my life, just as my other hobbies and pursuits are.
