I was worried I was being that person who couldn't take a joke as a joke, so I didn’t know whether to just let to through or whatever. I was thinking of just trying to get used to whatever he had to say since I thought it was some cultural stuff.
But I read this comment and thought that I may not be acting old-fashioned or anything and that it was just some personal boundaries. My friend made the same joke again, and I was able to talk to him, letting him know I was feeling quite uncomfortable with his jokes. He quickly apologized, and told me he wouldn't make the same joke again.
I was actually worried that bringing this up might make me look like a boring person or whatnot, but that actually went way better than I expected.

I tried to communicate early on that’s why her and I discussed that we have crushes on eachother and we both kind of took a step back.
